UL is planning to get B777-300ER. I check with UL flight operations and confirm that... But I don't think its within 6 months..

        A340 – Main issue

Other airlines are progressively phasing out A340 in favor of more economical twinjets.

        A340 Primary users -

        Lufthansa
        Iberia
        South African Airways
        Virgin Atlantic Airways

ADG has a crazy seat plan. 1-2 are flat beds.. Dont worry there are no seat rows between 2-11. After raw 2 its starting as row 11-12. Then after 15-17 And then starts with real economy set rows fron row number 30..

Yes. MJ has only two A321s operating in the fleet since 4R-MRB sent for a lease-return C-Check. Third A321 to join the MJ-fleet in February/March 2013. BTW There are few special flights are operating to Hong Kong and Gaya to transport delegation of monks. Where Gaya flight shows as MJ311/2 but UL aircraft is operating for above purpose.

I think UL should introduce premium-economy class cabins in the wide-body fleet.

Thanks Sakith, they have changed the plane to a 330-200 now so its the usual J cabin. Is there a way of checking what the exact plane is? DXB-CMB on UL226 on the 13th of November. Hoping for the new seats and not ALG as thats all I've gotten in the past!

SriLankan targets 16 % revenue growth

Chandrasena noted that the world traffic which is recording a 4.8% growth a year will provide enormous opportunities for SriLankan Airlines to build a sustainable airline.

We are currently undertaking both modernization and expansion of fleets and looking at the sectors we need to fly and new traffic profiles to determine what type of aircraft we need to acquire in the future. SriLankan Airlines is also in the process of streamlining all aspects of its operations thereby getting the required efficiencies particularly in the human skills development segment to supplement the local aviation market.

SriLankan Airlines Chairman Nishantha Wickramasinghe said that SriLankan Airlines is set to become the Centre for Excellence in the region in the aviation industry related training and human resources development activities.

As per Airlineroute, Korean Air postpones Sri Lanka / Maldives planned service resumption.

The service is now tentatively scheduled to begin from 03MAR13, instead of 23DEC12.

You are correct, UL can not compete on the ICN route due to high competetion they will face from other airlines that operate within the region. I think the yield is also a concern for UL in operating CMB-ICN route. It appears to be UL has cancelled the plans of operating directly to ICN instead they wants to codeshare with KE. IMHO, UL should launch flights to African Nations like Kenya, South Africa etc .. with a codeshare-partnership with KE.

As per expansion plans, UL is now going to provide a nonstop flights to all their destinations in China while Chengdu will be launched just before Winter 2013. Regarding aircraft-replacements for three of the A340-311s are still under study. I think UL should get some A330-300s as most of the international airlines are cancelling the A330-300s orders in favour of B787s. May be UL can mull some of the A330-300s for discounted-price.

                            What do you say?

I am not sure why UL want to code share with KE (Sky Team) when UL is already code sharing with MH (One world) on the same route (ICN)

I agree with A333 with RR700 would suit better if they could negotiate a good price. But again I would like to see the bottom line of the UL accounts; I am still not confident UL is a viable airline in the hands of a government management.

UL has not been a viable airlines for the past couple of years; kept on life support at the cost of tax payer, for reasons other than commercial.
