Subject to Government approval is the standard verbiage used in GDS, for new routes, in case somebody pulls the plug .. or airline decided to can the route - all can be blamed on "Government Approval"

Actually it is because KE has not yet been given or has not yet requested for - approval from SL CAA (which I can tell you, is often much more fair than some other countries).

        • Does anyone know what the procedure is when UL is using the ex Cathay 340 with respect to business class seating? Seems like there has been an equipment change and I have the ex Cathay bird but my seat has been changed. Called UL and they said they cannot change it as all seats upto row 10 are blocked. The seat selection on the UL website shows rows 1, 2 and then 11, 12 with nothing in between.

ADG got only 8 flat beds. thats because CX used them as 1st class. if we use only 8 seats for j class we have 235 Y seats but those 235 includes 30 original j class seats too. it is very complicated when we using it as 38/205 config most of the passengers complain that they dont have flat beds when 8 of them seating on flat beds and other 30 doesnt. but some times we block 30 J class sets for ey and we use them as ey class seats. i think this aircraft must be re configure to a better configuration that UL can use. following are the ADG's three configs 8/235 , 20/223 , 38/205.

Thanks Sakith, so how is it decided who gets the 8 flat beds? and if the plane has 30J why can I only see rows 11 and 12 on the seat map? To be frank I dont fancy sitting in the old CX J seats and really want to get hold of one of the F seats. I am due to fly it as UL226 from DXB to CMB on the 13th of this month.

              • The Sri Lankan government is planning to implement a program to expand the country's national carrier, SriLankan Airlines in the next six years, Civil Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne has said.

According to the Minister, the government plans to increase the airline's fleet to 30 aircraft and will purchase five new aircraft within the next six months.

Then probably they must have block all front raws for crew rest. And the best thing is ADG got underground crew bunk too.

Well those 3 old A340s will be leaving by next year. And there are some rumors about replacing them with Boeing 777-300ER. But not so sure.

As a part of an Iberia restructuring plan, A340s will be withdrawn from the airline's fleet starting 2013.

No offence, but whats this got to do with UL? Iberia and UL are 2 separate airlines. Essentially UL just has to make a choice between further A330s or some 777s.

UL is planning to get B777-300ER. I check with UL flight operations and confirm that... But I don't think its within 6 months..
