I would think GF brought A340 to CMB to transport the backlog of passengers who were affected due to the GF's frequency reduction from 8 to 6 or 7 weekly this week. May be I'am wrong. Please confirm. What time did you this aircraft in CMB ?Comment

Any idea of the frequency of this flight ? When this flight is going to start ? Sad news 9W reduced the MAA-CMB from double daily to single daily last year.Comment

Glad to hear JAL considering to fly to Colombo. JAL operate on NRT-CMB-MLE-NRT would be a better idea that will cater Maldives tourists + Sri Lankan passengers.
@Sajith - Do you think Colombo-Tokyo route has sufficient demand to operate two airlines (SriLankan and JAL) ? Presently SriLankan is flying four times a week flights on Colombo-Tokyo route. I heard SriLankan is looking to add an additional service/s to Tokyo.
Japan Airlines to commence flights to Sri Lanka
Yoshiharu Ueki, the President of Japan Airlines (JAL), said the airline carrier looks to expand by increasing its service and number of flights offered between Japan and emerging markets in Asia.
JAL will look into opening new routes to other parts of Asia, such as Cambodia, Bangladesh, Myanmar & Sri Lanka.

@Sakith - If I am not mistaken 4R-ADG still flying on 245 seats also it has a layout issues on Business class. Does UL has plans to send 4R-ADG for seat re-configuration when 4R-ALH comeback to service ?
I heard 4R-ADA,ADB,ADC will be returned back to the lessor in next year. Any progression on wide-body aircraft order ?
Boeing might help arrange acquisition of second-hand aircraft to bridge the three or more years it would take to deliver new 777s, The Nation said.

Does this mean UL's fleet will shrink again? New aircraft take 2+ years to arrive.
Then again wasn't UL mainly looking at short/medium haul flying in the short term? There are a couple of A332s being stored so maybe UL will pick up some of them? But they mainly have P&W engines. On the plus side they are ex Kingfisher A/C so the interiors will be ready to go, bar a few customisations.Comment

I think Srilankan Airlines will not go for Any 777 Purchases at the moment As they have declared 17billion something loss.. May be because of A340 Also we have only few a/c owned by us.. i Assume they will go for some leasing of Ex A330's from EK which they are planning to sell it for cheap price... But Still Srilankan trying to purchase a A330 for Us$350 mil lol.....http://www.sundaytimes.lk/110522/Bus...imes/bt32.htmlDoes this mean UL's fleet will shrink again?
