Chongqing Airlines today resumed direct nonstop flights from Chongqing, China to Colombo, the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) said.
The flight was welcomed with a celebratory water cannon salute upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
The inaugural flight from Chongqing to Colombo, OQ2393 arrived at 2:50 p.m. with 78 passengers.
The passengers were warmly welcomed by a traditional Kandyan dance performance sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and they were presented with gift packs of tea sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
Three weekly flights will be operated between Chongqing and Colombo while Acorn Aviation (Private) Limited is the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Chongqing Airlines in Sri Lanka.
The recommencement of Chongqing Airlines operations in Sri Lanka will help boost tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka and strengthen economic cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, finance, education and culture between China and Sri Lanka, said AASL.

Iran smuggles two planes from Lithuania, evading sanctions
Hi Skyliner - Any reason why C5-MIA (A343), C5-MIB (A346) and C5-MIC (A346) are visiting Colombo?
The aircrafts’ transponders – which enable them to be identified on air traffic control radars – were turned off on entry into Iranian airspace.
Iran smuggled two planes out of Lithuania, the country’s public broadcaster announced on Thursday. The planes were due to fly to Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
The two Airbus A340s, leased by the Gambian company Macka Invest, were due to fly to South Asia in February but reportedly ended up in Iran. The aircraft’s transponders—which enable them to be identified on air traffic control radars—were turned off upon entry into Iranian airspace. The aviation data site ch-aviation reported that one plane had landed at Mehrabad airport in Tehran and another at Konarak airport in Chabahar. (Foreign Agencies)

So in total are we expecting 2 more A320 with ABT? I thought the lease tender called for 5x A320 and 5x A330
Any idea of the 4x A330 we will be getting? what models (-200/-300)? when delivery to UL?
High time ABL and MRE exit the fleet. Very bad condition. When are their leases up?Last edited by ULlove; 27-06-2024, 04:14 PM.Comment

I was flying on ALR from LHR-CMB earlier this month. IFE were not working in the economy class and friendly cabin crew tried to restart the IFE but still didn't work. UL better keep IFE are in good working order especially for the fleet which are being used on long-haul routes. So in total are we expecting 2 more A320 with ABT?
