                It may be -300 + -200 split or -300.

                Still no information regarding A333HGW.

                  BOC Aviation & A330-300

BOC Aviation has committed to a purchase and leaseback transaction with International Airlines Group (IAG) for eight A330-300 aircraft scheduled to deliver from January 2013 through to April 2014.

Mr. Willie Walsh, Chief Executive Officer of IAG, the parent company of British Airways & Iberia, said “This landmark agreement with BOC Aviation is important as it brings financial and operational flexibility to our fleet plans as we introduce new aircraft into IAG.”

BOC Aviation is the leading Asia-based aircraft leasing company, The Company has 63 aircraft on firm order and another eight on committed purchase and leasebacks for delivery through to 2014.

BOC Aviation is 100% owned by Bank of China.

Any possibility of UL + BOC Aviation leading deal?

Just keep in mind that worldwide mainstream media have an amazing ability to get facts about aviation wrong.

                        CONTINUED IMPROVEMENT - A330-300

Airbus’ 222-inch fuselage cross-section provides unmatched comfort on the main deck, while also offering large underfloor holds that open up opportunities for extra revenue from cargo. These holds accept industry-standard LD3 containers in side-by-loading, facilitating cargo processing and interlining.

In a typical arrangement, six 96-inch pallets or 18 LD3 containers can be accommodated in forward zone; while its aft cargo hold can handle such loads as 12 LD3 containers along with one 96-inch pallet, plus bulk cargo.

Continuous improvement applied by Airbus to its jetliner product line results in lower costs and better operations for the A330-300. This ranges from weight reductions in the airframe, introduction of modern passenger cabin features, and system improvements to engine upgrades and advanced navigation systems in the cockpit. They also result in longer maintenance check intervals.

A further enhancement of the A330 comes with Airbus’ launch of an increased maximum takeoff weight capability to 242 metric tonnes. With this improvement, the A330-300 will benefit from up to 500 naut. mi. of extra range, to over 6,050 naut. mi. (11,200 km.) – with 300 passengers, and carry nearly five tonnes more payload than the previous 235-tonne aircraft.

In operational terms, the increased takeoff weight A330-300 will be able to connect to the following new city pairs: London to Tokyo; Frankfurt to Cape Town; Beijing to Melbourne; Beijing to San Francisco; Kuala Lumpur to Paris; and Los Angeles to Dublin.

Some time ago when there was a discussion here, I had said that the A330-300 is the best choice for UL given its current and medium term future requirements....am glad that the right choice has been made. The 777-300ER would be too big an ac for UL. The 333 is a good replacement for the 343s and since UL does not have a first class, they can emulate Jet airways 330-300s and fit 292 seats into the airplane.
