SriLankan Airlines suspends Dammam & Riyadh flights until October 18
SriLankan Airlines has temporarily suspended all flights between Dammam & Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and Colombo until October 18 due to recent security-related developments and the prevailing security situation in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued on October 12, the airline said the safety of passengers and crew remained its priority.
Flight operations will resume once the situation is confirmed to be suitable for commercial air travel, the airline said.

British Airways Colombo flights get Hoppers menu in Club World
UK business travellers booking Club World on the new British Airways Colombo flights from Gatwick will be served Sri Lankan dishes created with London restaurant group Hoppers.

Club World passengers on the new British Airways Colombo flights from London Gatwick will eat from a Sri Lankan menu created with Hoppers, the London restaurant group, when the route launches on 23 October 2026.
The collaboration is time-limited. It runs only in Club World, the airline’s business class cabin, on the Gatwick to Colombo service, and only until 30 December, so executives travelling to Sri Lanka’s commercial capital before the new year are the ones who will see it.
The dishes draw on Hoppers’ best-known restaurant classics. The starter is yoghurt vadai, a soaked lentil fritter with yoghurt, tamarind and coriander chutney, served alongside crisps that are the restaurant’s version of the snacks sold by street hawkers on Galle Face Green.
For the main course, passengers can choose Hoppers’ signature Kalupol-spiced chicken with tangy lemon rice and beetroot curry, or Pollichathu cod, marinated in a tomato chilli paste, cooked in a banana leaf wrap and served with coconut rice and spicy pineapple curry. Dessert is watalappam bread pudding with spiced crumble and malt cream, a Sri Lankan take on the British pudding.
