Banuthev, they were acquired by UL in early nineties. Only that they were sold and leased back by EK management. Nevertheless, their asset value must be quite low by now. All the 343s EK has are older than ADE and onwards. I've not been able to get any response from UL on this so can't tell. If it's confidential, they won't reveal it anyway. No idea whether EK has plans to retire five 343s either.

Maybe ask them on Facebook to confirm whether it is fact or fiction (since it was written up on their FB account anyway). Note that it only mention A340s, so I wouldnt be surprised to see some A345s or A346s enter the fleet (if its actually true).

Confirmed. UL is not going for A340s. This is official word from the airline's corporate comms dept.

@ Kflyer - Thanks for the confirmation. SriLankan Airlines is better to get the twin-engined planes.

                ---

Gulf Air (GF) will be increasing Colombo flights from 8 to 9 weekly , effective 30 October 2011. However the airline had previously planned to reduce the Colombo flights to 7 weekly. Glad to know that they have finally come to a decision of expanding flights to Colombo when passenger demands between Europe and Sri Lanka are currently booming.

                Flight Schedule - Period 30-October-2011 - March 2012.

                10:15 - 17:40 - GF062 - A320 - BAH - CMB - 2.3.6.7
                20:15 - 03:50 - GF066 - A320 - BAH - CMB - 1.3.4.6.7

                04:50 - 07:50 - GF067 - A320 - CMB - BAH - 1.2.4.5.7
                20:45 - 23:45 - GF063 - A320 - CMB - BAH - 2.3.6.7
