            Mihin to fly Manila, Singapore

            http://www.dailynews.lk/2011/09/05/bus04.asp
Mihin needs to start expanding soon. And I do agree with KFlyer that Mihin shouldnt go long haul.

Yeah, but the silly thing, as I mentioned before, that, it is next to impossible to obtain Philippine visa .. unless SL Govt can convince the Philippine Govt to allow visa on arrival - I wonder what will fly .. the hordes of Mid-eastern fliers will prefer non-stop, with Emirates, QR, GF and all firmly entrenched in Manila and their home base ..

Even with Visa, I saw one Sri Lankan denied entry in Manila Airport and deported back .. no reason given ..

I usually don't trust Daily News articles. This is the same newspaper (and probably same reporter) that said UL will fly to YYZ daily and the same one that said UL launches KBP with 3 flights per week. We'll see when it happens.
MNL > CMB > Mid East is quite a detour and there is a lot of competition that are either better or cheaper. MJ will need to be very creative to make this route work, specially if there are visa issues like the ones ecurelix mentioned.

This is the message I received from UL employee regarding the technical glitch on UL422 on the 3-Sep-2011. Message : "4R-ADE, left no 1-engine was hit by a bird and the N1 Vibrations was high ! so the captain decided come back to base".

kflyer: unless they can book the 'cargo' volume ..

A little bird told me that a lot of powers-be are keen on MNL, apart from BKK ..
