As Kflyer said UL531/2 not axed. It was not added in the list by my mistake.

Interview with new UL CEO Kapila Chandrasena:

BTW does anyone have pics of the new business class/IFE system on the A340/330s? And any clues on the proposed widebody order?

                  Australia

Believe that Melbourne will next on UL's international destinations - inbound tourist figures show Australians to be 3rd only behind UK & India , the very large Sri Lankan community ( > 100,000 ) + a fantastic leisure destination for cashed up Australian travellers with strong AUD$ . Also exactly 1/2 way from Australia to London is a perfect stopover in Sri Lanka & the Maldives
Come on SriLankan give the Aussies the go ahead

Unfortunately too much competition and very low yields

In the interview I posted above, it is mentioned that flights to Australia will commence next year (as well as flights to South Korea and one African destination).

It seems to be launching YYZ has been dropped and have given importance to ICN after the ZRH resumption. In my humble opinion , Kapila has made a good decision to not to goahead with YYZ where UL will experience more operational costs etc .. in the present situation. Also connecting Sino - Africa seems to be a good idea since its being a fast growing market and very limited number of flights are connecting between China and Africa .. I think UL is looking at resuming JNB or starting new flights to NBO .. Since JNB was a continued loss making destination for UL , its going to be a challenge for Kapila to make that African-route success ..

Thank you lordvader for posting interview with Mr Kapila Chandrasena , very interesting , my predictions Seoul (ICN ) Korea April 2012 , Melbourne Australia Sep 2012 followed by Nairobi Kenya in Dec 2012 , no more points in Europe , expand code share with EY and code share with AC to Canada , it will be a long time before we see UL aircraft in Canadian airspace , sure yields are low to Australia but potential for growth is certianly there

I am quite certain that we will see ICN before we see NBO or MEL, if ever. NBO would be a quite bad choice IMHO, KQ already has a strong foothold in most South East Asian markets. JNB too is well covered by SQ, SA and CX. Same goes for ADD with ET and EK very hard to beat. DUR has no competition but will have to rely solely on Indian connecting traffic. LAD and LOS are the only good true African choices but the former again will rely solely on connecting traffic. But of course, you can count SEZ and MRU as Africa too. So again, NBO emerges as the not so great but only choice. If they try hard they can make any of these work anyway.

Well said.... UL's Canadian dream should be shelved..instead UL should focus on providing a good connections/code-share flights to North America in general via key gateways like ICN. NRT, and Europe. North American passengers are having hard time in getting a good connections via Europe with UL's current/proposed time table where number of flights are arriving Europe in mid day or afternoon. The competition (mainly mid-east carriers such as EK, GF) are milking the UL traffic with better connections.
