Another one Bites the Dust : Avianca Brazil files for Bankruptcy
Avianca Brazil (officially called Oceanair Linhas Aereas Ltda.), the country’s fourth largest airline, has filed for bankruptcy protection on Tuesday.
The airline cited recent losses and disputes with the lessors of its aircraft as reasons for this move. It confirmed that these issues put its operations on risk.
Avianca Brazil is a subsidiary of Synergy Group, the company that also owns Avianca Holdings, which holds Colombian Avianca, along with several Avianca-branded central-American sister airlines. It currently operates 53 airplanes, including Airbus A320, A320neo and A330. The airline received its first A320neo in October 2016 and plans to take delivery of ten Airbus A350-900, starting in 2020.Leave a comment:

Alaska Airlines Hints It May Finally Join the Oneworld Alliance
Alaska Airlines is considering joining the Oneworld marketing alliance dominated by American Airlines, British Airways, and Qantas, though likely not as a full-fledged member, its chief commercial officer told investment analysts on Tuesday.
Alaska is among the only larger North American airlines not tied to one of the three major global alliances. In the past, that has served it well, allowing it to enter marketing agreements with any airline. But after severing its ties with four major SkyTeam airlines in the past two years, including Delta Air Lines, and with eight of its 17 current agreements with Oneworld carriers, now could be the right time.

Viking Air to-acquire Dash-8 Q400 program from Bombardier
Canadian plane and train manufacturer Bombardier is planning to pull out of making turbo-prop passenger aircraft as part of a $900m disposal program over the next 12 to 18 months.
With the C-Series program already being acquired by Airbus, the struggling company has decided to axe 5,000 jobs globally as well.
The divestment of the Q400 was announced by Bombardier on Wednesday (07th November) with Longview Aviation Capital Corp acquiring the Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 program from Bombardier Inc at the cost of $300m for its subsidiary Viking AirLeave a comment:
