More losses for the taxpayers - as part of any deal the GOSL will have to absorb the building costs.
I have my doubts about the economic viability of this airport - I'd be surprised if anyone actually steps in.Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this businessComment

Looks like the residue of the Lotus design on the roof is still left? BIA Stage Two ready for tender
The much awaited US$ 500 million Stage 2 development of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) will get underway soon.It is expected to be completed by end 2017.
The airport will be partially closed from January 2017 for urgent runway repairs.The airport will be closed for about six hours from 9.00 a.m. for a period of three months.

The runway is running at about 60% capacity and a new runway is under construction. The choke point is terminal capacity. In the next month ground will be broken on a new terminal which will be a welcome relief.

2nd runway is mentioned in the Western Megapolis plan it is not connected to the Japanese funded terminal expansion. A new runway is to be built either north or south of the current runway/Comment

Yes I think 2nd runway is not been finalised for CMB yet. It appears to be construction work for new terminal starts next month. Resurfacing of the current runway starts in Jan 2017.Comment
