During that day, we faced the Dithwa cyclone, and I haven't received any updates on the expansion projects since then. If anyone has any info, pls share! I'm eager to know the future of Jaffna airport too!
Good news! JAF terminal expansion launched as per below news. Do you know how the terminal will look when it's completed? Any plans / pictures of the proposed terminal?

The terminal expansion project at Jaffna International Airport (JIA) officially commenced on 15 December 2025 with a foundation-laying ceremony, marking a significant milestone in enhancing passenger facilities and strengthening regional air connectivity in Northern Sri Lanka.

A further 30 months will be required to complete the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Terminal II project once it is awarded to the prospective Japanese contractor through the ongoing tender process, as only around 30% has been completed under the previous regimes, the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation reveals.
              • Only 30% of total project completed
              • Awaiting JICA concurrence on technical evaluation
              • Project to be implemented in 2 packages

Top Gulf airlines have not responded to Sri Lanka’s invitation to use the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), Deputy Civil Aviation Minister Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku said.

Because HRI has very limited capabilities compared to Gulf carriers' requirements.

Noticed there were few QR aircraft and GF A321neo stored at CMB due to middle east tensions. I wonder why these were not stored in HRI.

                          As per my knowledge,
Existing Landing and Parking permits, Reactivating aircrafts after long parking period, Ability to reposition aircrafts at homebase as a revenue flight instead operating a ferry flight.
