Airbus has installed on the first flight-test A350 XWB (MSN001) its two flight-ready Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines and also installing the new Honeywell HGT1700 auxiliary power unit (APU) at Airbus’ production facilities in Toulouse (France).

UL too slow, regarding the Airbus MOU.

Even Nepal Airlines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to buy two Airbus A320 aircraft equipped with Sharklet fuel saving wing tip devices.

Unfortunately A350XWB is only supported by Trent XWB; GE offered GEnx for -800/-900 but did support -1000 which directly compete against 77W with GE90s...in a nutshell GE pulled out of A350XWB program.

In my opinion, I am still not sure how long UL can go on borrowing money from GOSL to finance this project...so the project itself is still in doubt

Yes, A359 is only offered with RR engines, just like GE90s have a monopoly on 77W and 777X to come. My comment was only meant to be a comparison between the two engines.

And most importantly, with regards to UL's selection of aircraft, I think they are on the right track. What is not on the right track is the entire airline itself. I still strongly feel that the president should have his own aircraft (which he is entitled to as the head of state) and find a private sector managing partner for UL or sell it. There is no point in subsidizing the travel of foreign tourists at the expense of Sri Lankan tax payers. They are not coming to Sri Lanka because of UL, they are coming DESPITE UL!

RR are quiter than the rest bcz they have 3spools. Which means 3 shafts rotating at its optium speeds i hope this makes the engines to be much quiter than the rest
