Exactly correct! SriLankan Airlines was considering to serve the CMB-GAN-MLE route but Maldivian strongly objected to the issuing of domestic license to foreign airlines and warned that local airlines could go bankrupt as a result of such a decision.

Hi folks, could somebody clarify if Mihin is lifting cargo from any of the airports it is operating from?

        Thanks in advance.

^^ Look for the expected Cargo carrying capacity by Mihin Lanka being the sole International airline (other than Spicejet, an Indian carrier).

Mihin Lanka can make best use of the facility going to be available at Madurai airport till a competitor comes.

                    But prices are high,

CMB > Sigirya one way 199U$, return 400U$
FRA-CMB-FRA with UL cost about 800U$

Yes, looks like they are pricing them out of the market even before the commencement of the first flight!

you never know .. maybe a ploy to exclude the peasents and masses from entering the 'premium' aircraft and dirtying it

BTW, did anybody see the accusations that Sajin Vaas refused to lend his Helicopters for rescuing the lost fishermen ? Damn, if anybody is mental enough to fly a Robinson, he is mad as it is, and if you expect a Robinson to fly in Foul weather, that guy had to get his brain removed .. unlike the Bells and Mils of AF, and the Craft of Senok, not many can fly out in foul weather, forget the insurance and risk issue

Airforce is tax payers money, by right or wrong, they should be mobilising and doing the rescues, not untrained and under-equipped civilians.

                          I agree.

I don't know who this guy is, but if he decided to make some money by hiring his heli out instead of operating a mercy mission, that is his prerogative (and he is well within his right!)

SLAF on the other hand are duty bound to assist as they are run by taxpayer money (even though 99% of the fishermen do not pay taxes, they are entitled to being rescued, just as anyone else in distress).

These days almost every deal is a horse trade. As much as the 'interested parties' spend their money (and use the promise of block votes) against the GoSL and the country, the GoSL and the country are fighting using the same methods (a very astute move, I would say).

Given UL's experience with Airbus products, it is a prudent decision to continue with Airbus and once the A350 was selected, it is not like UL has a choice on engines!

Instead of just buying the multi billion dollar product and keeping quiet, they are asking for diplomatic capital in return. Simple as that.
