AFAIK it means it hasnt been finalised.
Sorry that was badly worded on my part. UL needed aircraft from the end of next year to replace its A343s. Airbus offered them A333s. Whereas Boeing didnt have a product (787 slots are probably only available in a couple of years). UL cant wait a couple of years so they went with Airbus. Plus UL already operates Airbus aircraft so training etc would be cheaper (correct me if Im wrong on this!).
SriLankan airlines will purchase six new aircraft at a cost of Rs. 310,000 million.. He said that the SriLankan airlines would settle its outstanding dues to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation within the next two years. (The Island Newspaper)Comment

Good move from UL! I think UL soon should start nonstop flights to Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
On a different note, does anybody know why 4R-ALA not in service since 3-June-2013 ?Comment

Maldives national airline to begin Gan-Colombo flights
The Maldives' national airline will begin operating direct flights between Gan of Addu atoll and Sri Lankan capital Colombo on August 7, President Mohamed Waheed Hassan announced Sunday.
Speaking at a ceremony in Addu atoll Gan to inaugurate the Addu International Airport development project, the president said it would be better for ‘Maldivian’ to operate Gan-Colombo flights than SriLankan Airlines, which has also expressed interest in the route.
“Based on the discussions [held between the two parties], we saw it better to allow our national airline to operate flights between Gan and Colombo,” he said.
At the ceremony, Transport Minister Amin Ibrahim handed over the license to Maldivian to operate flights between Gan and Colombo.
