SriLankan Airlines sees further expansion with increasing flights to London Heathrow from 9 to 11 weekly from 21st December 2017. SriLankan's all London flights are operated onboard Airbus A330-300. On Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday, London Heathrow would see two SriLankan Airlines flights on the same day. It would be boost for the British tourists and North American passengers who fly onboard SriLankan Airlines.

Also SriLankan is restoring the frequencies to destinations like Chennai from December when does the 3rd Airbus A321neo joins the fleet. Frequencies to Delhi, Doha and Dubai are going to be increased.

Srilankan should consider operating twice daily LHR flights throughout the year if they don:t restore FRA and CDG flights back. It will be much easier for North American passengers who are travelling to Srilanka and South India. The existing evening flight leaving LHR to CMB has no good connection specially from Canada. It will also attract MEL to European travellers to some extent.

Last night's UL604 to MEL was upgraded to A333 (4R-ALM) from the scheduled A332. Not sure if this is due to load factor or unavailability of an A332 aircraft.

        My guess:-

Another corrupt deal without a termination clause. That's why all the "Big Talk" about converting this order has gone quiet. The GOSL has to pay up!

Also explains why UL suddenly needed a loan - to pay off the next installment.

4 A350 cost $1.1 Billion. Normally Airlines negotiate a discount but given that this deal is all about the commissions it's quite possible they are paying full price. That means that even if they can sell the production slots they will take a huge loss as they will need to sell at at a huge discount. More huge losses for the people of Sri Lanka to pay off.

Doesn't look like there's going to be an investigation so we may never know the full story.

Another financial disaster on top of everything else.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

May be. As per my estimation about 40% of the load are transfer traffic.

A few inbound flights to CMB on holding patterns right now... And TK730 from MLE seems to have rejected landing and did a strange low pass over CMB...

I think all ex. Mihin aircraft are being painted into SriLankan livery. Today A321-200, 4R-MRD was inside the A320 hangar, probably going to be painted very soon.

These two ex-Mihin aircraft (MRD / MRE) were leased from Aercap and I think these two aircraft leases were extended when UL cancelled the A350 leases with Aercap.
