    What upheaval? The US economy has been growing for the last 7 years and unemployment is at record lows.

            Superficially, yes. DJIA is at record high and the USDOL unemployment rate is at record low (notwithstanding those who chose not to be included in the labor force).

            But, the US economy has high systemic risks and intrinsic structural issues. Not to mention the debt burden.

              I am too curious to know if FZ making profit out of HRI route. According to this link, on the 20th Jan 2017 - 108 pax were arrived on the FZ Flight. But not sure how many passengers were arrived and departed at HRI on the FZ flight on the other days . FZ have been operating HRI for past 4 years and currently operating 4 weekly to HRI. Does tourists from Russia visit HRI ?

                              @NeatStuff

                              Thanks for posting the truth. Good to see that there are people on this site who understand what is going on.

                              Makes a nice change from the usual naivetee/denial/head-in-the-sand mentality that is so widespread in the country and on this site.

                              Simple summary:- It's someone else's Fault!

                              The airline is awaiting Government backing for the new restructuring effort which if approved will be rolled out from second half of the current 2017/18 financial year. This is amidst parallel plans by the Government to seek a strategic investor under a Public-Private Partnership model.
                              Up to now it's one failure after another - how is doing the same thing over and over again going to somehow generate a different outcome?

                              The new Board of Directors and management team since the election of new Government in 2015 had taken a host of measures to reduce losses as well as improve operational efficiency.
                              I thought they were all getting fired. I guess that was last month...

                              Detailing on the major challenge of aircraft ordered by the previous management in 2013/14, the CEO said many of the aircraft were unsuitable and all of them were overpriced.
                              This is why they cannot make money - ever! The rest is just more talk.

                              “Finding solutions for these expensive and unsuitable aircraft continues to be a priority to the airline,” he said, stressing, “any turnaround would be dependent on this issue being resolved.”
                              Since the Airline signed a 12 year lease with no termination clause on these aircraft that isn't going to happen - they are going to have to pay! Good luck with that!
                              Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

                                SriLankan Airlines has recorded a consistently superior on-time performance during the first six months of this year, in comparison with its peers.
