My first thought on reading this was that another corrupt deal is being set up. From the article:-

Among the team that made the presentation was Dilhan Haradasa, who is AirAsia’s Group Head of Network and Regulatory Affairs.
A quick search shows this guy is Sri Lankan or a dual citizen. The fact that Sri Lankans are involved is a red flag - although in this case there isn't enough information to determine what is going on.

Anyone know if this guy is 'connected'?

Sri Lanka commences Automatic Dependence Surveillance Operations

Minister of Transport & Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva yesterday (15th Nov.) inaugurated the Automatic Dependence Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) Operations at the Ratmalana Airport Control Center.

Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) is considered as one of the latest developments in the surveillance technologies used for Air Traffic Control purposes.

ADS-B system in-fact provides Radar-like information to the Air Traffic control Center on ground to determine the position, altitude, speed etc., of aircraft in-flight based on specific type of messages broadcast by the aircraft which containing its position information derived from the GPS.

It’s less costly as it does not involve any Transmitters on Ground but only a set of Receivers located at selected locations in the country to capture the signals emitted by the aircraft, which are sent to a Central Processing Unit, which present the positional information of Aircraft within the applicable range, to the Air Traffic Control Center on ground.

The ADS-B implementation project was awarded to ERA a.s of Czech Republic through an international competitive bidding process. Airport & Aviation Services (SL) Ltd., is proud to mention that the System Design and Site selection for ADS-B Receivers, meeting the optimized coverage requirements, have been carried out by its own team of Electronics Engineers without the services of any external consultancy services. The ADS-B system has been successfully tested and Flight Inspected in July 2017.

ADS-B data received from all 05 Receivers located at BIA, MRIA, Pidurutalagala, Kilinochchi and Suriyakanda are now successfully fused and integrated with the existing Air Traffic Management (ATM) System at the Area Control Center located at Ratmalana Airport.

4R-MRE is doing test flights. Has it been painted in UL colours?

I think it's operating as CMB-MED-JED to transport hajj pilgrims but SV is operating schedule flights from JED nonstop & RUH via MLE to CMB.

Why its recorded under flight UL316? I heard from technicians MRE is receiving UL livery. Any possibility MRE is getting re-registration under UL. Some thing like 4R-ABS ? Any pics?

Any record of any flights coming in from Indonesia?
Only those daily flights by UL are operating between CGK & CMB. Very surprised this time Sriwijaya or Garuda haven't operated via CMB.

Technical fault/bug in FR24. Even today it was displayed as 4R-MRE.

Oh! It looks like its a military fighter! Gained a speed of 120Knots within 10 seconds! Took off at around 1Km of the runway. 10 Km to gain 10,000ft.
