As the SLTPB works on approval from the Sri Lankan government to allocate $2.4 million to help attract foreign tour operators, the country’s national carrier is now considering relaunching direct flights to Frankfurt as of 2021.
Nothing is definite - just more wishful thinking imho.
The reasons major carriers do not fly to Colombo.
- Seasonal destination.
- Low yielding destination with very little Premium traffic.
It's simple Economics - they can make more money operating to other destinations.
UL lost a lot of money operating Frankfurt flights - these were stopped for a good reason.
What has changed since then? Nothing - this route will just result in more losses if it is restarted.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business
Any idea why Cathay Pacific has reduced the frequency of flights to Colombo from daily B773 to 5 weekly A333?
Cathay flew daily to CMB before easter Sunday attacks but cut frequency to thrice weekly afterwards. But they have increased it to 4 weekly since November. CX has cut frequency to more destinations due to prevailing uncertainity in Hong Kong.
why there is a special treatments?? this is just a seasonal flight and not scheduled regular one.
