Kenkari, I appreciate your effort for creating such a thoughtful Network map to show how SriLankan flights should be expanded in the near future. I thought it's better share my opinion with you how your imaginary-SriLankan Network can be improved.

Even though you provided point-to-point networks to Cities like PEK, KIX .. I think you would have avoided the un-necessary routes like KIX-NRT, MAN-LHR, CMB-BEY, CMB-MEL-SYD-CMB. After Syrian war, Beirut is no-longer the favourable destination for SriLankan. Also Beirut passengers who fly to/from Colombo can take transit in KWI or DXB. SriLankan should be concentrating on adding more frequencies on profit making destination rather than adding new destinations for show-off (e.g. AMS, ARN ..). Due to QF-EK tie-up, SriLankan hardly think about launching any aussie-routes.

Any way, In my opinion SriLankan should expand their network in 2013 as below : -

            Please share your proposals.

I think 4R-ALJ is the only aircraft has a brand-new J and Y class. I have not heard anything yet about UL's plan on starting nonstop flights to HKG. Perhaps it will be actioned after joining the OW in 2013 :-) Does CMB-HKG route has a sufficient demand for nonstop flights ?

I have been informed by the reliable source that 4R-ALJ has no problem with a galley and it can serve long-haul with no issue.

I think there should be a demand as no one flies direct also if they done with ow srilankans from west coast. Can hv faster access via hkg then CMB.

I spotted on GDS that KU has reduced the CMB flights from four to two weekly in Winter 2012 also the flight is going to operate via MCT using an A320.

I was reading an old review on Mihin, think from 2007, which mentioned they have a premium economy cabin. Is this still the case? The reviewer was of the opinion that if they upped the service they could have even sold it as business class.

Perhaps that passenger flew on 4R-ABE which was utilised by MJ for six or seven months before it was sent for a storage. Yes. 4R-ABE (ex-UL) had a two class configuration J/Y. Currently MJ fleet flying on solo Y Class cabins.
