UL need at least 2 or 3 more Airbus 330 air crafts to have a smooth medium to long haul schedule. Without proposed additional flights To NRT and SYD still UL have to cancel or delay long haul flights to Europe and Australia on some days due to shortage of air crafts.Comment

According to Air Service Agreement 2020, only Max 11 Total flights are allowed to operate between Australia and Sri Lanka. UL is currently flying 7 weekly to MEL and 3 weekly to SYD. From Jan23, UL is adding 1 frequency to SYD to make it 4 weekly. I believe Sri Lanka has to increase the regulated capacity with Australia to increase more flights over there.

Per the CAA website (not sure if it is accurate or not) the air services agreement between Australia and Sri Lanka allows unlimited access, with the exception of four cities; Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. For these cities 14 flights in total are allowed, with a maximum of 7 per city. So it seems a 7/weekly to Sydney is possible.Comment

Rossiya Airlines is going to takeover SVO-CMB-SVO operations from Aeroflot. Cramped B777W with 457 seats is going to be deployed on Colombo route 4weekly from 27-Dec-2023.
TUI Airways is going to fly Colombo from Gatwick and Birmingham in Dec23.
Thai Lion Air seems to be dropped the plan of flying Colombo. Can anyone confirm?Comment
