China dumping more of their worn out old junk in Sri Lanka - this aircraft first entered service in 1960!
Complete with a Russian radial engine built in China - that's pretty specialised maintenance. Doubt these will last very long.
Just look at the pictures in the article!
Journalists - time to investigate and ask some questions.

Does anyone know how many hours per year SLAF pilots fly? For jets and transports?Leave a comment:

It's all about the side deals - that's how 'Business' is done in Sri Lanka.
The purchase price is higher than the actual price and the difference is funneled back.
The Commissions on the deal are pocketed without any investigation.
This is true for almost all purchases.Leave a comment:

But seriously why are they even considering buying fighter aircraft especially when we can't even obtain more than 10 of them. It's far easier and simpler to buy and maintain a good air defence system since it would be far more effective and then have a fleet of ground attack and COIN aircraft and expand the transport fleet. It seems they want new jets just for the glamour.Leave a comment:

yes. Ships from India, US and probably Russia is confirmed. but never heard and didn't see any news articles about Chinese ship.I think righ now they are focusing on expanding the navy.the navy would be recieving the 2nd AOPV from India,One Vessel from China(I think a type 053h3)and a Hamilton class Cutter from US this year while the coast guard will get 2, 30m boats from Japan,
I am not sure if the agreement for the Gepard 5.1 frigate was signed thoughLeave a comment:

Yes - the country is out of money. Read the papers - it's all there.
No money = no ships or aircraft.Leave a comment:
