The Sri Lankan government has drawn up a master plan to develop the Ratmalana Airport to provide efficient domestic and international flight services.

What happened to the plan of operating Maldivian Airlines from the Maldives to Ratmalana?

I really hope they begin soon!
Maldivian Airlines is still waiting to commence, they’re unable to since SriLanka Customs haven’t placed any of their people at RML for Immigration and other operations, hence the delay

The SL gov re-designed the plan of terminal 2 to minimize the cost of the project ? am i right ?
Terminal 2 is a JICA funded project. Why JICA takes time to start the contruction work ?

A short amount of research will reveal the country is out of money - no way to pay back any of the loans.

This is why the IMF is calling the shots - it is also the only organisation that will still lend Sri Lanka money.

JICA funding would also be in the form of a loan - given the current financial state of the country I certainly don't blame them if they are having second thoughts about loaning money.

It's very simple. No money = no terminal.

Sri Lanka’s first metro rail project to be completed in 2018

Sri Lanka’s first Metro High Speed Electric train system is expected to be complete in the year 2018. Initially running between the Airport and Colombo, it would provide high capacity public transport characterized by high speed and rapid acceleration. The proposed train would have a capacity to hold 400 passengers and conduct nine journeys per day. The iconic project is said to provide safety, comfort and ease of travel coming into the city within 25 minutes.

                          Article is from 2015.

So much for that - just more Sri Lanka "Big Talk".

                          Seriously - underwater tunnels?

And for the naive people on this site who don't understand what is happening in their own country this week:-

It's an attempt to de-stabilise and force out the present Government.

                            Wheels within wheels....

There is no way to make this airport profitable - so it's surprising anyone would want to be involved in running it.
I suspect there is a lot more going on that hasn't been made public.

Do you think Sri Lanka will complete the construction of terminal 2 by 2020? What's your opinion about current status of CMB?
