Yes UL can connect Seychelles with other oneworld destinations and UL can grab the european market with easy connection via CMB. All depend with Fleet capacity.

I wonder why they are now breaking the route into two parts.. will they receive traffic rights between UAE and Colombo I wonder? I wonder why they are downsizing from A330s to A321s on the CMB routes.

As per the GDS they dn't have Traffice Rights from AAN -CMB

This is a greenfield market if UL can connect LHR and FRA flights to Seychelles then this could be more profitable than flying to MEL

I lived in Sydney for couple of years; I know this market. Most of the Sri Lankan expat in MEL work in the public transport sector in Melbourne. All of them want UL to fly to MEL but when push come to shove...i.e. let say UL demands a premium $100 per tickets since it is non stop flight to CMB; again let say family of 4 want to travel to CMB. This is $400 difference; it is big chump change (nearly 1/3 of monthly house mortgage)...hope you get the picture. Next issue is GST rate in Australia is 10% so most of them (including other races living in Australia) want to stop in SIN to buy big ticketed items. Only way UL can make this route profitable is...UL need to compete against the kangaroo route. for that UL need a larger fleet; which UL does not have. larger fleet with excess capacity with lower labour cost can undercut the establish carriers in the kangaroo route.

By the way there are no 400K Sri Lankans living in MEL or in all over Australia. who ever gave you that stats has been smoking something...& the burghers who left Ceylon in 60's does not consider them as Sri Lankans and has extremely limited ties to Sri Lanka. They consider themselves as Australians. They visit Europe or North America for their holidays.

Who ever coming up with these type of business plans need to be fired......but again when the business plan has Executive inputs...then whom to be blamed...

As for LCC operation Govt should develop RML or hand it over to private sector to run the airport; but again RML is not in Hambantota district so nothing will happen

Are you suggesting that UL flights to have a stop over in SEZ on their way (and back) to FRA and LHR?

I am not sure if this is a good idea, given that SEZ is saturated with EK and EY etc. Mahe has a small Sri Lankan population, but they always prefer to fly via DXB.

Even though Sri Lankans do not need visa to enter Seychelles, I highly doubt that they will vacation a lot there given the prices (and the mediocre service standards).

Nope its been 320 all along. Is there anyway to check which aircraft they are using post August?

For the lesser initiated, you cannot open a flight door, when the plane is at altitude .. due to pressurization !!!

But i am confused. The Tri-Nation tour is still going on. But the report says, they boarded another flight from London returning to Colombo.

After leaving the BA flight at Gatwick, the player and his team mates subsequently boarded another plane belonging to another airline taking them on to Sri Lanka.

It shows an Airbus A330-200 on 5th august on lastminut.com, so it must be a widebody aircraft.

They said the airline will not make an annoucement which I find odd as it is a capacity increase and they usually do announce these. Can someone check the various databases and see if EY is now showing 330's instead of 320's from August onwards? Thanks

I think BA is not doing well in CMB - LGW sector

Almost Each flight has 150 Y Seat left And 30 J Seats left.

                              Any Comments
