It is a charter operating until March 2013. Winter 2012 Flight Information is now available on our web. @ Kenkari - Do you know if there is any european charter flights are operating to CMB this winter ?
UL de-linked the KUL-SIN route in early part of 2012, since then UL is flying double daily terminator flights to KUL and SIN. Recently UL upgraded four out of 14 KUL flights with A332/A343 replacing A320 for the increased pax-demand. But UL still flying to SIN with A320 equipment.Comment

The only charter flights operating to CMB are Finnair one weekly with an A330 operated by HiFly and Enter Air one weekly with a B738 via Muscat. As I know. All other european charter flights has terminated CMB-services@ Kenkari - Do you know if there is any european charter flights are operating to CMB this winter ?
Last winter (Wi11/12) Novair (2 weekly), Edelweiss (2 weekly) and Condor (2 weekly) had services to CMB.

They are taking way too long to make the decision, just like any other crony saddled government establishment.
It is not rocket science. They only have the following options:
A330-300
B777-200ER
B777-300ER
And if you are thinking medium term, it really is a race betwee A330-300 and B777-300ER.
Of course their incredible incompetancy might produce some surprising results though.Comment

SriLankan is evaluating offers from Boeing and Airbus to modernize its long haul fleet. Both manufacturers have been asked for proposals involving leases of new aircraft combined with a plan to take back or re-sell three ageing A340 aircraft.
Chairman Nishantha Wickremasinghe said quotes from both firms are being evaluated and a decision may be announced as early as in two months.
"If are going for Boeing we like to have adequate numbers to service it," Wickremasinghe said. "You can't have one or two. (It will be) either four or six."
SriLankan Airline aircrew is now trained for Airbus aircraft.
A new type means fresh training for flight crews, technicians and investments in spares.
The state has committed 500 million dollars in taxpayer money as equity to fix the airline over the next five years for the airline which has posted a string of losses. The government will also give sovereign guarantees for the airline to borrow.
The first 100 million dollars cash injection is expected in 2012 after next year's budget is passed by parliament.

SriLankan Airlines chairman Nishantha Wickremasinghe said the supplier of its new long haul fleet will also have to arrange the sale of "three or four" of its older A340 aircraft. The airline was looking at acquiring Boeing 777 aircraft.
"I sent a letter to them last week, indicating them to offer some aircraft and swap with our aircraft," Wickremasinghe said.
"If Boeing can arrange for somebody to buy the ageing aircraft cost-wise it will be cheaper.
"We have told the same thing to Airbus. I have ageing Airbuses that I want to replace with a younger fleet of aircraft."
