    That's good news that UL will be increasing LHR frequency to 9 flights a week in the Winter. I assume the previous slots will be used - early morning arrival and mid morning departure - which would ideal for connections to and from North America.

        I hope UL will resume CMB-PEK service soon. Hopefully after adding next A330
        Currently there is no direct connection between Colombo and Beijing.

          CMB-PEK resumption by UL postponed to Mar26. Is Air China not interested in PEK-CMB route? Air China did fly this route in the past.

                  Hi Maw2000, Source is Air India website. Flight Schedule & Booking removed for MAA-CMB-MAA nonstop flights.

                    'Arkia' Israel Airlines Resumes Weekly Flights to Colombo

                    Arkia Israel Airlines has resumed its operations to Sri Lanka, with flight IZ 639 arriving in Colombo this morning.

                    The return flight, IZ 640, is scheduled to depart Colombo at 22:30 hrs every Wednesday and arrive in Tel Aviv at 05:35 hrs on Thursday. This service is aimed at meeting the growing demand from Israeli tourists visiting Sri Lanka, as well as supporting labour market connectivity between the two countries.

                            Russia’s Red Wings Airlines to Resume Mattala Flights from November 1st

                            Sri Lanka’s former Ambassador to Russia, Udayanga Weeratunga, stated on his official Facebook page that Russia’s Red Wings Airlines will return to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) from 1st November 2025.

                            The airline plans to operate 116 flights during the winter season from Moscow, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg, Sochi and Samara, bringing around 48,000 Russian tourists to Sri Lanka.

                            Weeratunga noted that the operations are expected to generate over USD 70 million in foreign exchange earnings through Mattala.

                            Red Wings Airlines is launching direct flights from Ufa to Sri Lanka, the Ufa Airport press service announced. Flights will begin departing from the Bashkir capital on November 3. They will operate every 10-11 days on comfortable wide-body Boeing 777-200 aircraft. Travel time will be approximately eight hours each way.

                            Azur Air to Launch Seasonal Flights to Sri Lanka in November 2025

                            Russia’s Azur Air is planning to commence seasonal flights from Moscow to Sri Lanka in November 2025. For the first time, the airline is considering flying to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, having previously operated flights to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). The exact flight dates will be announced later.

                            SkyUp Airlines to Launch Seasonal Charter Flights to Sri Lanka from December 2025

                            SkyUp Airlines, the Ukrainian charter and low-cost carrier, will commence seasonal charter flights to Sri Lanka starting 27th December 2025, operating to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), sources said. The new service is expected to enhance connectivity and give a significant boost to Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, further strengthening international travel links.

                            Air Astana to Launch Seasonal Flights Between Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka

                            Air Astana is set to launch seasonal operations to Sri Lanka for the winter 2025/2026 season. Starting 29th December 2025, the airline will operate two weekly flights to Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), strengthening air connectivity between Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka during the peak travel period.

                            Drukair launches direct Bhutan-Colombo flights from 19th December

                            Creating a landmark stride in the aviation sectors in both Sri Lanka and Bhutan, direct flights will commence between Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Paro International Airport in Thimphu from 19th December 2025.

                            These charter flights will be operated by Bhutan’s national carrier, Drukair, and they will deploy an Airbus A319 flight, which offers 16 business and 102 economy class seats.

                            Promoting tourism growth, cultural exchange and stronger economic ties between Bhutan and Sri Lanka. the second charter for 2025 will be flown to BIA on December 25.

                            Four more charter flights are scheduled for April 2026.

                            Drukair is owned by the Royal Government of Bhutan and operates direct flights to India, Bangladesh, Singapore, Dubai, Nepal, Indonesia and Malaysia.

                            Edelweiss/ Swiss to Resume Seasonal Colombo–Zurich Operations from 28 October 2025

                            Edelweiss will resume direct services between Colombo and Zurich starting 28 October 2025, operating twice-weekly flights every Tuesday and Saturday. The route offers travelers seamless onward connections via Zurich with Swiss International Air Lines and Lufthansa.

                            To celebrate the commencement of Edelweiss/SWISS operations in Sri Lanka, a special reception was hosted at the Swiss Ambassador’s Residence in Colombo, graced by Her Excellency Dr. Siri Walt, Ambassador of Switzerland.

                            In the previous winter season 2024/25, Edelweiss operated 28 flights, carrying 5,632 inbound passengers to Colombo and 2,664 outbound passengers. The airline also played a key role in air cargo, handling 117 tons discharged and 304 tons uplifted, strengthening trade ties between Switzerland and Sri Lanka.

                            The airline is represented in Sri Lanka by United Ventures Pvt. Ltd., its General Sales Agent (GSA), which continues to strengthen sales and marketing efforts in the region.
