SriLankan Airlines first A 330-200 aircraft to be returned after 23 years

The first A 330-200 aircraft of SriLankan Airlines taken on lease from France 23 years ago is to be returned to the company of origin as the lease period has expired.
This aircraft has 18 Business Class and 251 Economy Class seats, and it was deployed to serve long distance destinations like Heathrow in London, Frankfurt in Germany, Melbourne in Australia and Moscow in Russia. So far, this aircraft has completed 100,000 flight hours.
Eventhough this plane was inside the Katunayake Airport when the LTTE attacked the airport, it was not damaged while six other SriLankan planes were damaged in the attack.
The aircraft which is still in very good condition owned by SriLankan Airlines, has fulfilled its service period and lease period, so it is to be taken and delivered to Airbus Company.

Air Seychelles commences flights to Sri Lanka
Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, commenced twice weekly flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka today.
The inaugural flight landed in Colombo at 0350 hrs today, Wednesday 21 June 2023, after a short four-hour trip linking the two islands.
The flight is served by the airline’s Airbus A320 Neo aircraft with 12 business class and 156 economy class seats.
“We’re very excited about this opportunity to link Seychelles with Sri Lanka. A destination in its own right with excellent tourist, medical and trading opportunities which all Seychellois will benefit from. This service will drastically reduce current travel times and at prices much lower than currently seen in the market,” Air Seychelles’ Chief Commercial Officer, Charles Johnson said.

Korean Air to resume direct flights to Colombo after repeated SriLankan flight delays
Korean Air is expected to resume direct flights to Sri Lanka, says Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara.
The minister alleges that the employment opportunities of Sri Lankan workers who are supposed to leave for foreign employment are at risk due to repeated delays of SriLankan Airlines flights.
The SriLankan Airlines flight UL 470, which was scheduled to take off for South Korea yesterday (June 20) with a group of migrant workers leaving for employment in South Korea had been delayed by approximately 12 hours.
“This aircraft was deployed mainly for the departure of these workers travelling to South Korea. It’s a national requirement.”
