I guess they are looking for A320ceo Jets as a replacement for aging A320ceos (ABL, MRE, ABM), I guess also UL will not acquire A321ceos, since they are looking for older A320 replacements, and Will not acquire A320/321neo jets since still due to higher demand of engine components for 25X (CFM Leap engine option) series and 4R-ANE is still AOG.

I wonder why 4R-ALS not in service since 14-Dec-2025?
    Hi Banu,

Thanks for the infomation, and appreciate that you are maintaining fleet info of UL.

I would like you to suggest to specify seat models/interior config colour schemes, and Exact model numbers/ specified numbers (
A330-343E) and MTOWs of each aircraft also.

E.g: 4R-ALL/M/N/O/P/Q/R : Business - Zodiac (Now Safran) Cirrus III flatbed / Economy - Zodiac (Now Safran) Z300

    Why is 4R-ABL still grounded?
D-check considering its 21 years old at this point?

Small addition, But when comparing travel frequency per passenger, Sri Lanka stands at 20 times per passenger per annum, while India stands at 5 times per passenger per annum according to Boeing Statistics.

Any chance Saudia, Ethiopian and Vietnam Airlines start flights to Colombo? Any update on Air Astana flying CMB this winter?
I've heard that Saudia are planning to restart flights to CMB in May 2026, but not seen any official confirmation.

ECONOMYNEXT – Vietnam Airlines is planning to fly direct to Sri Lanka from August 2026, connecting Colombo to Ho Chi Minh City of the South East Asian nation, an official said.
Vietnam Airlines will fly three times a week to Ho Chi Minh City, General Manager for India, Nguyen Trung Hieu said.

Sri Lanka’s Hayleys group is the General Sales Agent.

Direct flight to Vietnam has been a long-standing request of the Sri Lankan business community and travel agents.

Vietnam Airlines was part of a delegation accompanying the visit of Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang to Sri Lanka.

Hieu announced the plan during a meeting of Vietnam Sri Lanka business forum at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. (Colombo/Dec10/2025)

Any update on extending runway at JAF to accomodate A320 / B737? We need Air Arabia and FlyDubai to resume Daily flights to HRI? May be Air Arabia can do Daily SHJ-JAF-HRI-SHJ and FlyDubai can do Daily DXB-HRI-JAF-DXB.
As I spoke with the Jaffna airport manager, he said that FlyDubai and Singapore Airlines have shown interest in operating direct flights to Jaffna. As regards Singapore, they might send Scoot as well. This information will be confirmed once the runway expansion is successfully completed.
