S7 Airlines Adds Novosibirsk – Colombo in Dec 2026

S7 Airlines plans to launch service to Sri Lanka during the Northern Winter 2026/27 (NW26) season. Effective December 20, 2026, the airline will operate flights between Novosibirsk (OVB) and Colombo (CMB) twice weekly using Airbus A320 aircraft.

​Sundays: Departs OVB at 05:00, arrives CMB at 13:40 (Airbus A320)

​Thursdays & Sundays: Departs CMB at 14:50, arrives OVB at 02:15 (+1 day) (Airbus A320)

If I am not mistaken, the A320ceo can operate OVB–JAI–CMB without any issues, especially since most of the A320/A321neo fleet has been grounded.

Is this the first time S7 Airlines is serving CMB? I remember seeing S7 Airlines on the CMB tarmac in the past—maybe that was a Tu-154. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

FitsAir suspends Kuala Lumpur, Chennai flights

FitsAir has suspended its direct passenger service between Colombo and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, less than a year after launching the route. The Chennai route has also been listed as suspended in recent flight data tracking for the airline.

Sri Lanka’s only private airline launched the non-stop Colombo-Kuala Lumpur service on April 4, 2025, with four weekly flights. The Malaysian route has since been placed on hold as the airline adjusts its international operations.

Sources also said FitsAir has begun downsizing its operations, with several employees reportedly being laid off while certain employee benefits have also been reduced.

Airline sources further said the carrier has outstanding dues to aviation authorities, which they claimed have continued to mount.

“The suspension of the two routes leaves FitsAir’s scheduled international network from Colombo focused on destinations including Dubai, the Maldives and Dhaka,” FitsAir call center member siad.

In addition, FitsAir commenced direct operations between Colombo and Ahmedabad on June 19, 2026, becoming the only airline to offer non-stop flights between the two cities.

The Ahmedabad service operates three times a week, strengthening connectivity between Sri Lanka and western India and providing an additional option for leisure and business travellers.

The airline has also not reduced its frequency on the Colombo-Dubai route. (Shirajiv S.)

Guys, here are some Jetstar photos.

Jetstar flight JQ005 arrived at Katunayake at 6.24 p.m., carrying 271 passengers and 13 crew members from Melbourne.

Jetstar has landed at Colombo today. It was operated by a 787-8 Dreamliner. This is quite rare to see another airline fly to Colombo.

According to GDS, AMD is planning to start from 26-Oct-2026. But still don't see booking available on UL website.

what about UL Ahmedabad launching date? Will that be still the same around October/November?

Going to be exciting day tomorrow as Jetstar B787-8 due to touch down the schedule flight from MEL to CMB. Any chance for photos?

Here are few more updates for upcoming flight operations to Colombo and Mattala

• Fitsair cancelled the plan of resumption of CMB-KUL flights from 02 September 2026;
• Edelweiss is planning to operate 3 weekly flights to Colombo from 26 October 2026;
• Enter Air and Smartwings are due to connect Colombo with Poland cities with charter flights from 5 November 2026;
• Azur Air is going to fly direct charter flights from Russian cities to Mattala from 5 November 2026;
• No sign of flights from Redwings and Skyup to Mattala. Do we know what happened?
