After about a year since ALT was delivered to UL, I'm seeing it do a long-haul with UL rather than medium-haul or regional for the first time. I guess we'll see her operate to LHR, NRT and so on from today onwards? Or has it already operated long haul before this?
6hrs delay, as ALH was hit by lightning last night and was diverted back to CMB.You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Hi all, some news regarding WEAIR, a new "Sri Lankan" cargo airline.
WeAir recently updated their website nicely. Is there any news on the arrival of their first aircraft?

WEAIR Launch Marks Major Boost for Sri Lanka’s Air Cargo and Logistics Sector
The arrival of WEAIR in Sri Lanka represents a significant investment that will strengthen the country's air cargo capacity and regional connectivity, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath said.
The Minister made these remarks while attending the inauguration ceremony of the Luxembourg-backed project recently.
WEAIR is set to operate as a Sri Lanka-based cargo airline, connecting Colombo with key destinations across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean region, the Middle East, and Africa.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Herath noted that the project reflects growing international confidence in Sri Lanka’s economic potential and strategic location. He emphasized that the initiative would support the country’s ambitions to become a regional logistics hub while enhancing trade, exports, tourism-related supply chains, and cargo transportation services.
The Minister also highlighted the company’s potential to generate employment opportunities and contribute to the development of Sri Lanka’s aviation and logistics sectors.
Representatives of WEAIR, investors, industry stakeholders, and officials from the aviation and logistics sectors attended the event.

Dimal Arandara appointed Chairman of SriLankan, CEO to be appointed soon
The government has appointed A. K. D. D. Dimal Arandara as the new Chairman of SriLankan Airlines with effect from yesterday, further strengthening the airline’s leadership during a key phase of its restructuring and expansion plans.
Arandara had earlier served as Chairman SLT and Acting Chairman and was also a member of the Board of Directors following the resignation of former Chairman Sarath Ganegoda.
Ganegoda, who served as Chairman for more than one and a half years, resigned from his position at SriLankan Airlines on March 31, 2026.
There had been widespread speculation that former Chairman Peter Hill would return to head the national carrier as the successor to Ganegoda, but the appointment did not materialise.
Current Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam was also considered a strong contender for the position during the selection process.
Meanwhile the government is also expected to appoint a permanent CEO soon. Currently this post is being held by Yasantha Dissanayake who is also the CFO.

It seems Vietjet is all set to start direct flights to Colombo from 18 Aug 2026. I can see Colombo listed in their flight booking section, operating only 3 weekly flights instead of the initially announced 4.Hi all,
Following Vietnam's President's visit to Sri Lanka on the 7 to the 8th of May, Vietnam Airlines, along with Vietjet Airlines will begin flights from October and August of 2026 respectively.
Vietnam Airlines has announced it will open a direct air route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo, Sri Lanka, starting in October 2026, with three round trips per week using Airbus A321 aircraft.
A major win for Sri Lankan aviation! Also note that Saudia is offering flights from JED-MLE-CMB on Monday.
Here is the flight schedule**:**
SGN-CMB - VJ1875 - A320 - 18:15 - 21:50 - TU, TH, SA
CMB-SGN - VJ1876 - A320 - 23:00 - 05:55+1 - TU, TH, SA
Any possibility this route will become successful?Leave a comment:

Thanks for confirming that EXQ is being ferried to Tarbes. Does that mean the aircraft will be parked there until it finds a new owner? Also, is EXQ getting painted all white prior to the ferry flight?Leave a comment:
